If you already know, recently I took a long ass journey down to visit my mum. Unfortunately, she lives a good 8 hours away from us and flying is never an option with 2 kids in tow. So I tend to take the car, that way we can head out and about when we’re down there too. But whilst I was down there I attended my second ever blogging event which was so much fun and I’m super grateful I got an invite. Plus we had so much planned on my itinerary, I had to bring down my makeup. I wish I could have taken my whole collection, but that’s just unnecessary. So I thought I would share with you what I’ve packed in my travel makeup bag. I’ve tried to keep it as minimal as possible but still giving me a choice in a way.
What’s In My Travel Makeup Bag
The only primer in my life that seems to be doing its job is the L’Oreal Infallible Priming Base. I rediscovered this recently and fell in love with it all over again. So it had to come down with me.
I decided to take 2 foundations down with me so I can pick and choose depending on what mood I’m feeling. Obviously, I had to bring down my holy grail foundation, the CYO Lifeproof Long Lasting Foundation (full review here). I absolutely love this for a dewy finish. Plus my mum wanted to give this foundation a try before she makes the purchase herself.
I’ve also bought down another favourite of mine which I recently purchased. The Maybelline Superstay Foundation is for days when I fancy a matte finish to the face. Even though I have dry skin, for some reason this works with a moisturised face and a good primer.
For concealer, it had to be my trusty Tarte Shape Tape. I think we all know just how fantastic this concealer truly is.
Contour, Blush & Highlight
Because I’m trying to keep it minimal whilst taking all my essentials, I decided to take the CYO Sweep Into Shape Contour Stick. Literally the perfect size for any travel makeup bag. I recently featured this in my September Favourites as I was blown away at the blendability of this. For such an affordable contour stick it really does the job.
For blush, it had to be my current favourite, the Milani Baked Blush in Dolce Pink. It’s literally such a gorgeous blush shade. It gives my cheeks just a pop of colour with a glow.
Even though I probably don’t need anymore glow after the blush, I decided to take my Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighter in Blossom Glow down with me as well. Just because I like to shine.
I decided to keep my eyeshadow palettes at home. I have this fear that they’ll smash if I take them travelling. And I love my collection of eyeshadow palettes, some people collect candles or stamps, for me its eyeshadow palettes. But for my mascara, I chose the L’Oreal Paris Paradise Mascara. Another recent discovery and a bloody good one. I know this will give my lashes the length and volume I need without the use of falsies.
For the brows, I went for the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil in Taupe. I only own this in a sample size so, to me, it was the perfect choice to throw in my travel makeup bag. I also packed a little spoolie brush as well as the sample size doesn’t have one attached to it like the full sized one.
I wanted a bit of a choice so I chose 2 different shades. The first one being the Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Androgyny. It’s such a gorgeous mauve plum shade and will complete a natural eye look, just to give my face a bit of colour.
The second choice is another Jeffree Star pick, this time in the shade Celebrity Skin. Just a simple soft, brown nude shade which can be paired up with any look. I decided to go for minis as they aren’t as big as the full size. Plus they are the perfect size to just chuck into my handbag when I’m on the go.
Last but not least, to set everything down I took my trusty favourite setting spray. The Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea.
