I thought I would do a little post on my daily make up routine, I’ve been trying to stick to the same products over the last couple of weeks as I’ve been having horrendous break outs, not sure if its the change in weather or the fact I’m trying a new skin care routine but at the moment I don’t want to change anything in the make up department. For a simple day to day look (which is what I’m sharing with you today) it only takes approximately 15/20 minutes but once I start whipping out the eyeshadow palettes, eyeliners and everything else I could be sat there for hours!
So heres the products I use for a simple make up look:
Primer – For my primer I’ve been using the L’Oréal Infallible Primer, this stuff works an absolute treat on my skin. It helps to keep my foundation in place without drying out my skin and I suffer terribly with dry skin! I basically rub this all over my face only using a small amount using my fingertips and leave to dry before applying my foundation.
Foundation – I’ve actually been combining 2 foundations together which has been working absolutely fantastic for me and the products I’ve been using are the L’Oréal Infallible 24H Foundation in Porcelain and L’Oréal True Match Foundation also in Porcelain. Just a pump of each bottle on the back of my hand and applying it to the face with a dabbing motion using a beauty blender it leaves a lovely finish without looking cakey. It lasts a considerable amount of time on my face but maybe not 24 hours as the Infallible bottle says.
Concealer – If you haven’t already then check out my July Favourites featuring this concealer! Its my absolute holy grail and its the one and only Tarte Shape Tape Concealer in Fair. Not only does it conceal my horrendous dark circles under my eyes it also brightens up my skin. Applying it under my eyes, on the top of my forehead, down the bridge of my nose and popping a small bit on my chin, using the same beauty blender I just blend that in and it works wonders. If you are in the market for a high end concealer you should definitely give this one a try.
Powder – Sticking to the L’Oréal theme I seem to have going on here I’ve been using the L’Oréal True Match Powder in Ivory. Using my Tarte Bronze & Glow Contour Brush (yes I know its meant to be used for bronzing but I just love it for powder) I swirl it into the container and just dab it all over my face. Using a powder after foundation and concealer just helps set both products into place I feel, helps to prevent creasing.
Contour – I wasn’t going to add this into my list however I do try to contour everyday but only the cheek bones and the top of my forehead. I’ve been using the NYX Professional Makeup Highlight & Contour Pro Palette and you can pretty much guess what colour I’ve been using the most! Applying it to my forehead and cheekbones using my Real Techniques brush (look at the design its sooooo funky!) and just blending it in. I try to contour just so I don’t look so pale and people don’t ask me if I’m feeling ok, joys of being so pale!
Blush – I received this in my Look Incredible box back in July (can check out my post here) and featured it in my August Favourites its the Too Faced Love Flush Blush in Funfetti! The product itself has such a pretty design and this gives my cheeks just that pop of colour they need so I don’t look completely washed out. Using another one of my Real Techniques brushes I use a very small amount of this and just build up the colour using a light hand as this blush is super pigmented.
Mascara – I absolutely rave about this mascara and its the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, I recently featured it in my July Favourites and I don’t use anything else. This mascara coats each lash perfectly without any clumping and gives them definition without the use of false lashes because I literally cannot apply falsies, I tried it once on a night out and they were literally falling off! However I have heard there is a fantastic dupe for this mascara which I definitely need to try as this one is on the pricey side of £19.
Highlighter – Currently I’ve been obsessing over the MUA highlighters and the colour I’ve been using is Pink Shimmer. I love a highlighter where you could possibly see me from the moon and this ticks off all the boxes, Such a lovely glow to the face. Using a Real Techniques brush again I apply this to the cheeks, cupids bow and the end of my nose.
Lipstick – When I just do my basic everyday make up look the only liquid lipstick I tend to use is my Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Calabasas (which was also featured in my August Favourites!). Its such a lovely burnt cranberry colour with a matte finish that lasts ages! If I don’t use this one then the other colour I use is Lime Crime Matte Velvetines Liquid Lipstick in Polly (check out my review on the Lime Crime lippies here). Its such a beautiful pink mauve colour and I think this just suits my skin tone perfectly.
Fixing Spray – And finally to set everything in place I’ve been loving this spray from Make Up Revolution and its the MUR Pro Fix Illuminating Fixing Spray. It’s absolutely amazing at keeping my make up in place for as long as I need to, but if I feel like I need a top up I can easily spritz this onto my face throughout the day without leaving any residue.
And there’s my make up routine! I hope you enjoyed being nosey and looking into my daily make up bag haha, is there anything that you can’t live without make up wise? Let me know in the comments below.
