Lately Lime Crime had a HUGE sale over on their website, including most of their Matte Velvetines so it was only natural to grab a couple in their sale right? I only bought 4 which were reduced from $20 to $5 (which worked out to be roughly £4.00 in pounds) as I had never tried Lime Crime as a company, but I have to say I’m really impressed with these!
The pigmentation on these are incredible, I’ve been looking for a matte liquid lipstick which has incredible staying power due to the nature of my job (can’t have flaked lips whilst checking in a guest!) and these have fit the bill. When applied to the lips they glide on effortlessly and once dried down they are opaque and completely transfer proof, the swatches on my arm were very hard to scrub off!
The applicator is the classic doe-foot which is perfect for applying this liquid lipstick, it makes it easier to get an even finish across the whole of your lips. The products are vanilla-scented which is a huge plus as some I’ve tried have had quite a chemically scent which is horrible especially if you are wanting a product to last all day. Once dried down they leave a suede type feel to the lips and don’t dry them out terribly, however if you don’t like the feel of matte lips then I would recommend popping a small application of lip gloss on top. The staying power on these are insaaaaane, I wore one on a nightshift and drank at least 4 glasses of water, ate a whole bowl of macaroni cheese and more sweets than a candy store and the colour was still there in all its glory, you wouldn’t of thought I’d had anything to eat or drink!
The 4 colours which I bought were (from left to right):
Cupid – a petal pink colour (beautiful for the summer months)
Dream Girl – a deep cranberry colour (lovely for a night out)
Polly – a pink mauve colour (my favourite of the 4)
Saint – a cranberry red colour (basically a lighter shade of Dream Girl)
They have up to 45 different shades to choose from, from simple nudes to outrageous colours like green and blue (if only I could pull them off!) so you will be able to find a shade to suit you.
The packaging on these are gorgeous. The box which they come in (unfortunately I threw out) has a pink rose design with a red background, they have transferred this design onto the screw off lid as well. The base is transparent so you can see the colour easily and this helps when deciding what colour to choose to finish off your make up look.
I cannot wait to try out more shades from Lime Crime, these are definitely at the top of my list of favourite liquid lipsticks! The design is eye catching, the scent is amazing and the formula and pigmentation is just out of this world! You can purchase these over in Cult Beauty >> here <<, if you purchase them straight from the Lime Crime website postage is $10.95 but this is inclusive of custom charges.
Do you own any Lime Crime Velvetine liquid lipsticks? If so what is your favourite shade?
Until next time,
