There is no denying that I love a candle. My house is currently covered in them. Every room in the house practically owns one while the “candle cupboard” is stocked up quite nicely. Especially during the autumn season though, as candles can bring your home that cosy feeling as memories of summer fade. Even though most of my candle collection has come from big named brands, sometimes it’s nice to discover handmade Scottish candles that aren’t mass produced. The time and effort put into anything handmade are always delivered with care, attention to detail and pure love.
Handmade Scottish Candles from Candle Jar
If you’re not aware of who Candle Jar are, they are a website which sells candles (obvz). Every candle sold on their website are handmade by so many amazing Scottish brands out there. When they first got in touch asking if we could work together I was stoked. Firstly because I’d never heard of this website before and secondly because I think its a fantastic idea about what they are doing. Small brands I feel tend to get overlooked due to bigger brands out there, yet they can be just as amazing. Which is why I was excited to get on board with this opportunity. Along with advertising their website and giveaway, I was sent a couple of candles to try out for myself. I’ll say now, I’m thoroughly impressed with the quality and design of each brand.
Esscentual Candles Medium Tin in Echo Beach
‘Top notes of Sea Spray, heart notes of Gorse and Coastal Florals and a warming base of Driftwood and Sea Moss’
Don’t you just love it when a candle takes you back to a particular time? This candle brings me back to living in my hometown, with the fresh sea air filling the streets and walks across the beach. Oh, how I’d love to move back. It’s such a lovely, fresh scented candle that fills the living room with lovely coastal scents. Perfect for the summer time I feel.
All medium tins from Esscentual Candles have a burn time of 25 hours and are £5.99 each. There are 8 different scents available which you can check out here.
The Melt Pool Small Jar in Lime with Basil & Orange
‘A combination of peppery basil with a citrus top note of lime and a warm sweetness of oranges’
Surprisingly, this scent combination works. It’s very strong and quite zesty so unfortunately it’s not a scent for me, however, if you love citrus based candles then this is for you.
All small tins from The Melt Pool have a burn time of 25 hours and are £5.95 each. There are 5 different scents available which you can check out here.
Dawsonbrown Wax Melts in Raspberry Lime
‘A delicious sweet blend of juicy wild raspberries and zesty lime’
I’ve completely fallen in love with this scent combination! When I first looked at the packet I thought ‘raspberry lime? That won’t work’ but it does. It fills my house with a gorgeous fruity scent thats strong enough yet not overpowering. Each wax cube lasts a fair couple of hours and a lovely scent for autumn.
All wax melts from Dawsonbrown are £4.95 for a pack of 6. There are 7 different scents to choose from which you can check out here. Black Raspberry and Vanilla and Cinnamon Spice are next on my list to try!
