You literally cannot go wrong with festive reds this Christmas, I tend to shy away from a bold lip until December rolls around then all it seems to be is red everything! I’ve currently got red nails and I’m usually the person who never wears nail varnish any time of the year.
Something about the colour red just makes me feel sexy, confident and glamourous in anything I do, even if I’m lounging about the house in my onesie! So today I thought I would go through a couple of red lipsticks and nail varnishes that I own in my collection which will be worn to death throughout the festivities.
Next Nail Polish in Cherry Pie & Big Apple
I am absolutely obsessed with these 2 colours at the moment, especially Big Apple. Such a beautiful glittery red colour, perfect for that festive red. Big Apple is a pearl effect varnish whilst Cherry Pie is a gel effect varnish. I’m really surprised with the quality of Next makeup, to be honest I didn’t realise they did makeup items until I was searching their website for Christmas decorations. With Cherry Pie you do need 2 coats of it however with Big Apple I only needed 1 coat of polish and it covered the whole nail perfectly. They claim to be hard wearing and to be honest I think they are compared to some brands out there. I’ve had the same varnish on for about 3 days now and I’m still to see a chip, I do have a top coat on as well to give them that shiny effect.
Morphe Liquid Lipstick in Morphe
A beautiful deep red which I’m absolutely obsessed with. Its not too vibrant but not too dark, if that makes any sense. The formula on this is lovely, it has a velvety formula which dries down matte and doesn’t dry out my lips. It has amazing staying power and perfect for that Christmas party. I recently posted a picture of it on my Instagram stories and got a lot of feedback on it saying it was beautiful which really boosted my confidence.
Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish in Double Decker
One of the first nail polishes I purchased and still obsessing over today. To me this is the perfect red colour plus I absolutely love the name! Another reason why I love this polish is due to the drying time, I do need a quick dry time as I’m one of those people who tend to forget I’ve even painted them then start doing other stuff and end up smudging my work, then I have to start all over again on that nail and thats just too much work.
Makeup Revolution Matte Lip Kit in Queen
The classic Hollywood red colour. I seem to be addicted to these lip kits from Makeup Revolution lately, each one comes with a liquid lipstick and the lip liner to match and to me it saves so much time and hassle trying to match up each product if they were singular. This is such a beautiful colour on though, highly pigmented and lasts a while. I love how budget friendly this is as well, only £6 for the kit and it performs just as well as any high end products out there.
Freedom Pro Lipstick in Pure Vamp
I got this as part of a 5 pack in their Halloween collection (check out the post here if you haven’t already) and this shade of red is beautiful. I don’t wear it as often as I should, Freedom makeup is super cheap but really good so suitable for anyone’s budget. It has small specks of glitter mixed in and applies smoothly but feels wet on the lips so suitable for someone who doesn’t like a matte liquid lipstick as it doesn’t dry down. Its pigmented and looks beautiful when applied.
Chanel Aqualumiere Sheer Colour Lipshine in Lipari
At the higher end of the cost scale, this is more of a lip gloss than a lipstick but still has a beautiful tint of red through it. Acts as a lipstick, looks like a lipstick but perfect if you don’t want a bold red lip but still fancy that pop of colour. I received this in my Look Incredible box back in June and I don’t wear this as often as I want to, it has that sparkle throughout and gives a wet look finish. I seem to sway more towards a super pigmented liquid lipstick more as I seem to be obsessing over bold colours, but on the ‘hardly any makeup’ days this is always my go to.
What’s your favourite festive product this December?
Until next time,
