So cliché of me, Mr Right. Cringe even saying it in my head! But after years of dodgy dates, sneaky snakes and being signed up to many dating sites it was high time I got my fairy-tale relationship right?
After splitting up with yet again another sleaze bag I decided I needed a holiday away so decided to hire a car (as I didn’t own one at the time) and disappear off to my mums for a while. I needed some time away and what better way than to hit the road, travel through the night with my son asleep in the back seats with only the open roads ahead. I’d given up with the dating scene, it was getting too much.
So I opened up my dating app to close it down. But something caught my eye in my messages, a message from James. It wasn’t like all the other messages I’d received with cheesy chat up lines and dodgy paragraphs about how I am ‘the most beautiful girl in the world’ when you know fine well they’ve sent that to possibly every woman out there.
We sat and chatted for AGES and I mean right up until like 4am in the morning. It was so nice and comforting in a way but I wasn’t putting my guard down just yet. I wanted to meet him once I’d made the long journey back home. So we exchanged numbers and arranged a day.
Now I’m not a fancy kinda girl, I cannot stand small portions of food at ridiculous prices so we agreed to meet at the local pub. PUB FOOD IS AMAZING! Not too sure if I was more excited for the food or the actual date as I didn’t feel as nervous as I’d prepared myself for. To cut a long story short we had an absolutely fantastic time and I ended up back at his to watch a couple of films before I ventured off back home.
It honestly felt like I’d known James for years, it was such a weird but exhilarating feeling. I’d never felt like that about any of the others I’d either dated or formed a relationship with. I want to turn around and say I knew he was the one when I first met him but I had to be cautious due to my son.
We lived an hour apart so we set up certain days for either one of us to head through to the other and vice versa. After a few weeks of this set up I then found out I was pregnant. What a bloody shock that was! So after days and days of talking and deciding what the hell we were going to do, I decided to give up my house and move an hour away from my family to start a new life up in Inverness as a new family.
We’ve been together now for 4 years, have a beautiful baby girl together and engaged to get married. Cannot get more positive than that! I’ve seen so many beautiful love stories out there from dating sites, its absolutely wonderful to see so many loved up couples out there and my story put my faith back into love.
