At the moment, we are having a huge redecorating session in our living room. For some bizarre reason a couple of years ago, I and James painted our living room red. Yes, it was nice, but we also have a red carpet so you can imagine what it looks like. Overpowered by red, it was starting to hurt my eyes A LOT. But this time around we have gone for a grey/white/black theme. Just simple colours to create a nice, beautiful living room. Finally somewhere where we can call ‘cosy’. So while James does all the painting and wallpaper, little old me has been left in charge to pick out the accessories. Because after all, a room is never complete without some cute ornaments or house plants (real or fake)! I’ve created a wish list on some Amazon homeware items which would look lovely in our living room once the decorating has been completed.
Amazon Homeware Wish List
Set of 4 Tartan Stag and Tartan Check 18inch Cushion Covers | £15.99
These give me proper Scottish vibes without the red because I’ve seen enough red to last me a lifetime. 2 have a deer on them while the other 2 have the tartan check pattern.
Moda Sparkly Ceiling Pendant Light Shade Fitting in Silver | £12.70
I love anything sparkly so what better way than to bring it into the living room! The reflections from the light through the pendants will create a lovely pattern on the ceiling. These are quite small in size but they would be perfect for my living room. One of our living room lights is actually straight in front of our television so if the light shade is too big, it’ll completely block it.
Pony Dance Thermal Blackout Curtains in Grey | £18.95
I’ve gone for a proper blackout, thermal set of curtains due to our house. It’s quite old and lacks insulation which I think we’ll need to sort soon. So the draughts can be bitter. A pair of thermal curtains will help to prevent our living room feeling like the North Pole. Plus the last thing I want is for people to be able to see through our windows as we don’t have a set of blinds up. A decent price for a pair of curtains in my opinion.
These are on a recommendation from Mrs Hinch. I think we’ve all seen these before on her Instagram. But since I seen them I fell in love so I definitely need these for my living room. I think they would contrast perfectly with the curtains above.
Because we are quite a busy family, I try to take as many photos of the time we spend together as I can. With this photo frame with the clock in the middle, it’s just perfect, mixing the 2 together. I was thinking of adding a theme of with photos though, maybe do different seasons as there are 12 spaces to fill. I’ll decide what theme to do when it arrives though.
I have so many tea lights which I use for my wax melt. But sometimes even just small candles can bring such a homely feel to a room. These are just super pretty and adorable! On the small side, but perfect to add to each side of a sideboard or a set of shelves.
These are just absolutely adorable and will fit the theme perfectly. Perfect for the sideboard.
Zen Garden Thai Buddha Head Ornament Statue Candle Holders | £17.50
I seem to have a little obsession with buddhas at the moment. A couple of months ago I did pick up some from B&M. They are in the style of see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil. They look adorable on the shelves in the living room and this would match. Plus it holds small candles and we’re all aware of my candle obsession!
I’m a terrible human. I cannot keep plants alive. So artificial ones are probably the way to go for me. This particular one will look perfect on the bottom of our fireplace. It’s broken but makes a nice feature in the living room. So I want to decorate it a bit to give it a more homely feeling.
I absolutely love orchids, such pretty flowers. But again, I’ll probably kill them within a week so artificial is the way to go. This would go well by the fireplace or on a sideboard. It may seem like I’m heading towards an oriental them in my living room slightly but everything is just so pretty!
There is so much I would love to add to my living room, I definitely want a chunky knit blanket to drape over our couch. But I would prefer that to be homemade and support a business. But these are just a couple bits I found and fell in love with over on the Amazon homeware section. I cannot wait to have a completed living room now, somewhere to call home. A cosy living room which will be filled with family memories.
