2017 was a fantastic year for beauty products, with Rhianna’s make up line Fenty Beauty hitting headlines everywhere for the diverse foundation range, the absolutely gorgeous eyeshadow palette from Urban Decay which based around warm tones and the Desert Dusk eyeshadow palette from Huda Beauty which I’m desperate to get my hands on, with so many other releases from amazing brands I wish I could name them all but I’d literally be here forever! Throughout 2017 I’ve found some fantastic beauty favourites which have become huge staples in my makeup bag, some hidden gems which deserve much more coverage than they get and some skin care products which have helped my skin go from shit and dull to glowy and radiant.
2017 seen me fall back in love with make up again, my desire to get up every morning and shove on a full face of make up has increased and this gives me that boost of confidence which I’ve been strongly needing over the past couple of years. So today I thought I would share with you all my 100% go to products which I think you need in your collection too!
Kicking things off with the Tarte Shape Tape! Its no surprise this has ended up in my beauty favourites of 2017, this absolutely changed the concealing game in my opinion. With its high coverage with light consistency, it covers dark circles, blemishes and anything else you want to conceal with ease. A little goes a long way, you only need a small amount of product and it blends out perfectly. When I first seen this all over YouTube and social media I was sceptical at first due to the price tag and the fact it was only available from the USA but I decided to bite the bullet, purchase it and now I could never go back to another concealer. I’ve had this roughly 8/9 months and I still have a ton of product left. Absolute holy grail for my poor sleep deprived eye bags!
Next up is more of a recent discovery however its become a huge part of my life and that’s the Wonderland Studio Finish Primer* (you can check out my review here). What an absolute fantastic product! I have horrible dry skin and sometimes its hard to find a good primer which works with my skin type but this suits me absolutely fine. Popping a small amount on before applying my make up this helps to fill in any pores on my nose, smooth out the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles (yes, at 27 years old I’m starting to get them! *cries*) and smoothes out my skin to give a perfect base before popping on my foundation. It has a light consistency and genuinely feels like nothing on my skin once it has dried down and helps to lock my foundation in place throughout the day without the use of a setting spray.
Last make up item which has changed the make up game for me has to be the famous Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I’m one of those people who seriously cannot get on with false lashes in the slightest, between the application of them and actually keeping them in place becomes a pure disaster for me so tend to stay away from them so the Better Than Sex Mascara gives me the huge lashes I so desperately crave! Even after 1 swipe I can see a huge difference with the volume, thickness and length of them. Wouldn’t quite go as a far and say it really is better than sex, but I suppose it comes a close second.
A skincare product which I seriously cannot live without anymore is Foreo Day Cleanser and Night Cleanser, I absolutely love these as a duo and they work so well with my skin. The day cleanser has a yoghurt based consistency and is enriched with fruit extracts and yoghurt probiotics to give you that refreshed and awake feeling leaving your skin feeling deeply cleansed and feeling healthy whilst protecting your skin from daily life. The night cleanser is enriched with meteorite powder, moringa extracts and sweet almonds to help remove impurities, make up and pollutants with ease. I use both these cleansers with my Magnitone brush which helps to get the product deeper into the skin for that extra boost. Its always a good skin day when these 2 are involved!
Last but certainly not least, I feel this needs to have a mention as well as it seems to be the only spray I’ve been using since I bought it and that’s the Zoella Jelly & Gelato Body Mist, I just cannot get enough of this smell! Even though this is more of a summer scent I think I’m slowly becoming addicted to the smell and taste of Elderflower as its taking over my life. I’m onto my second bottle now and if this ever gets discontinued I will be starting a petition no doubt. Its not a strong smell however its not too weak where you can hardly smell it either, such a fresh, summery scent which lasts for hours and fits perfectly in your handbag.
And that’s all my beauty favourites of 2017! It was hard to whittle all my products down to just 5, but I managed it … just!
